On Friday, May 14, 2021, we kicked off the Robothon® competition with a live digital event over Zoom with over 55 participants. Our star-studded panel consisted of our very own Director of munich_i Prof. Sami Haddadin (TUM), Jury Chairs Prof. Gerd Hirzinger (DLR) and Prof. Tamim Asfour (KIT) and rounded off with Prof. Juergen Grotepass representing our Event Gold Sponsor Huawei.
Over the next four weeks, teams will develop autonomous solutions with their robot platforms working with our Internet-of-Things (IoT) competition task boards to develop robotic skills for the sorting and disassembly of electronic waste to promote automation in the circular economy.
We are excited to have 11 international robotics teams from 3 continents represented in our competition. You can follow along with each team’s progress on their competition task board on our (public competition task board web dashboard).
Teams will prepare a recorded video of the final solutions and submit them along with a 2-page solution write up on June 13, 11:59pm CEST.
Best of luck to all our teams and onward to a more sustainable future!
